Spring has Sprung… a leak?

Many South Africans are breathing a big sigh of relief, as the season changes into Spring, with the promise of beautiful weather and warm summer days to lounge about the pool or the beach! With 2020 being such a difficult year for so many people, amidst this awful Pandemic and massive economic repercussions- the last thing to add to that long list of woes, is a varying form of a leaking home.
As we eagerly anticipate the warmer weather, we must also prepare ourselves for the impending seasonal rains! Most of Gauteng experienced the first downpours on Spring Day, the 1st of September, with the rest of the country following suite with dropping temperatures, and rainy – overcast weather.
As much as we love the rain, we do not love it pouring into our homes or offices!
We would suggest that taking the time to make the most of the softer rains, and take the opportunity to check your roof, make sure that you don’t have any structural issues and waterproofing failures. Remember, we are available all year round to resolve any of these issues for you, we can and do complete waterproofing applications in Summer! Keep an eye out underneath balconies to see if these have any leaks, as your tiling and waterproofing may need to be replaced above the balcony too.

Always keep a watchful eye on your skylights, as these are one of the leading contributors to overall domestic leaks. Rising damp will also make an appearance at this time, with visible signs of this at the bottom of your home walls, paint could be peeling off and appear raised.

This is also a fantastic time to clean out your drains and gutters, as all of the foliage from surrounding plants and trees will have dried out, and will definitely block the flow of water.

Generally, if you have water ingress making an appearance on the top edge of your interior wall, this could be attributed to an overflowing gutter. Again- not to worry, as we can assist you with clearing your gutters and having them relined and coated in no time!
We always encourage our clients to participate in preventative maintenance, allowing enough time to make sure that all structures are in order, and repair any before they create a bigger issue down the line.
We are not your average waterproofing contractor, feel free to contact us for any assessments or investigations that need to be conducted- we are happy to assist, and do not charge a call out fee for viewings.
There is no project too big or too small for us!
Our services are available nationwide, within South Africa.
